There's really no difference between them, to me.
All that's missing is "in-person" contact. You're still able to talk and have fun with them. You can hear them and see what they look like and blah. So online or in real life, a friend's a friend. c:

Many of my online friends became real ones... and maybe real ones are now far away, so they're online friends

But when does an online friend become real? When you see him or her one time? Or do a real friend become an online one if you didn't see him for half a year? It's hard to say, so they're all friends for me :roll:
